A cornerstone of the ALWA play scheme is our belief in encouraging children’s natural creativity. Art, music, cooking, playing, sensory and messy play is an integral part of the play scheme, and children who enjoy these activities are encouraged to participate. Children learn skills and gain immense self-esteem when given diverse opportunities to create. We provide a wide array of materials for creating and engaging in all aspects of play and learning.
At the ALWA Play scheme it isn't just about supervised play its also about teaching children life skills and we follow the Positive Behaviour Support Model. Your child will play in a safe, warm and accepting environment. Our atmosphere enables children to respect themselves and others. Through diverse creative experiences, we enhance children’s ability to socialize with others, be creative, express themselves and develop.
Play areas are important for children on a whole, but many children with additional needs truly enjoy being outside and having the freedom to run around and play, giving them a space for expressing and being themselves. Outdoors they can also learn turn taking, and interaction with other children and helps children learn and develop skills in all domains. Of course, play areas are also important for developing physical dexterity and good health. Russet House School has 2 playgrounds and plenty of room for your children to enjoy the great outdoors! Whatever the weather we will provide activities suited to their needs supported by staff which equals to lots of fun for them and us!
